Introduction
Layering elements is one of the core principles to graphic design and is essential when dealing with a small frame like an ID card. Using layers in a design is not as hard as you may think, especially in the Badge Maker. Adding layers to your design allows you to turn a 2 dimensional design into a 3 dimensional canvas to have greater control of the design.
Layering is mainly used for aesthetic purposes but can also be used to create a design that is harder to falsify.
*Each element added to your ID design is a layer. If you have 5 elements on your design, you’d also have 5 layers to move either forward or backward between the other layers.
How to Adjust Layers
1. Select the ID design template you’d like to customize or create your own from scratch.
2. Select an element you’d like to move either forward or backward.
3. Near the top of the screen, shown below, you’ll see the “Move Forward” and “Move Behind” buttons.
Left Side Button = Move Forward Right Side Button = Move Behind
4. To move the element behind another element, click the “Move Behind” button to move the selected element 1 layer backwards. If you have multiple elements/layers, click the “Move Behind” button as many times as you need to move the selected layer to the right place in your design.
5. To move the element in front of another element, click the “Move Forward” button to move the selected element 1 layer forwards. If you have multiple elements/layers, click the “Move Forward” button as many times as you need to move the selected layer to the right place in your design.
